In modern times high tea often involves enjoying a more substantial meal of hearty fare such as fish and chips, accompanied by sweet treats like pastries or scones. On the other hand, afternoon tea is generally viewed as a light, mid-afternoon snack of delicate pastries and finger sandwiches with flavored teas.
